The Miller has been a place of refreshment and repose for nearly 400 years. But its 13 rooms reflect more 21st century tastes. Each of the 13 en suite rooms is individually decorated and designed.
Old meets new
Working within the features of such an old building, we’ve paired original wooden floors with marble bathrooms and combined modern colours with period pieces. Book early enough and you’ll have your pick of the designs. Given the age of the building, we’ve had to be creative with the space in some of the smaller doubles – if you’re not keen on open plan, let us know when you book!
Our two suites, The Goring and The Mansfield are in the eaves of the building and offer spacious sleeping and lounging areas as well as large bathrooms. All rooms include flatscreen TV, rain showers, stone resin baths, pure white linens on Abaca Organic latex mattresses, and towels and slippers. Bathroom toiletries provided with our compliments are sourced from the acclaimed Ren Skincare.
Business or pleasure
With a mainline train station in the village with direct trains to London Paddington, Reading, Didcot Parkway and Oxford, we welcome business guests as much as those seeking a midweek break or weekend retreat. Less than an hour from London, you can be sat dining by 8pm on a Friday evening ready for a weekend’s retreat in the south Oxfordshire countryside.
Staying one night, two, three or four, Goring is well connected and well serviced by our neighbouring businesses. We have beauty salons and hairdressers on the doorstep. The Goring & Streatley Golf Club just over the hill – don’t say we didn’t warn you about the fairway climbs! Being so close to the Ridgeway there are riding schools nearby too.
Less than a two minute walk will bring you to the River Thames. You hire boats or take a cruise, or simply walk the meandering Thames Path. The National Trust owned Basildon Park is a five minute drive away and historic Wallingford is 10 minutes in the other direction.
Here on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border we’re spoilt with lush landscapes, historic sites and boutique shopping. No wonder so many famous faces make this corner of the country home.
Please call direct if you require a specific décor.
