Chapel down is one of Mary and Nick’s favourite English wine producers. They’ve been there, seen the vines, tasted the wines (and the beer and the bubbles) and simply love what the team are doing there. Coming soon to the back bar is the Chapel Down Gin!

Nick will produce a signature menu for the event that incorporates perfectly matched courses, Miller morsels and our renowned homemade bread and home-churned butter. Hear about the terroir and the history of the Chapel Down wines, understand more about its particular methodology. Taste a handful of wines and savour the flavours combined with Nick’s menu. It’s going to be a deliciously fascinating evening!

Join one of our regular food and drink matching nights for a tasting tour with friends and likeminded guests. Wine tasting has been central to these events in the past and now we’re broadening our food matching events to other beverages.
Share a table with new friends or bring old ones for a sociable and interactive evening with our chefs and drinks suppliers. Wander your way through five courses with matched wines, spirits, beers or champagnes, that we taste and debate together. Our drinks experts come armed with at least three tipples that have been previously revealed to Nick.
Nick curates a tasting menu to compliment the drinks. All you have to do is consume it all!

Wine tasting and food matching nights at The Miller of Mansfield

Tasting and matching

Throughout the evening each of the drinks will be introduced. Learn about their provenance, composition and methodology. Hear and taste why each drink works so well with certain ingredients, flavours, spices and dishes. Discover why they’re served in the chosen order. Leave with a little more drinks knowledge and perhaps with new ones to enjoy at home or for a special occasion.

Pick Nick’s brains

Chef patron, Nick, will be on hand to answer your culinary queries, offer advice and suggestions for your own home kitchen creations. Pick his brains on what inspired him about the drinks to create the evening’s menu. Understand his own passion for matching drinks with food. It might be Mary who directs the drinks list, but Nick is known for his penchant for good plonk and decent beer too!

Meet our experts

In 2018 we bring a local feel to wine tasting and food matching events with the makers of local spirits and beers as well as local wine merchant Welch & Co. We’re delighted to welcome back our favourite English wine producer, Chapel Down, too. To celebrate the fourth anniversary of taking over The Miller, in April, Geri from our favourite champagne house, Roger Constant Lemaire, will bring some fizz to the dinner table!
