We did it! We won two awards at the first ever Thames Valley Hospitality Awards!
The inaugural event, organised by Berkshire foodie journalist Hilary Scott, was held on Sunday 18 March at the Reading Hilton with significant support from Thames Valley restaurants, hotels and venues.
We were shortlisted for four categories, won two and were runners up in a third.
Thames Valley Hospitality Awards winners
We had nominated Nadia, part of our amazing housekeeping team, for the Back of House Star award. Day in, day out, Nadia is both fabulous at her job, but always upbeat in spirit and a convivial member of the team. Her hard work helps keep our rooms shipshape and the public space ready for an influx of guests.
Those are just a few of the glowing things we said about her in the award application. We’re delighted to say that she won!
Safe to say that dreams came true for us when we were announced winners of the Best Restaurant Award. We’ve had a great year, being shortlisted for a specialist award at the Top 50 Gastropubs and receiving glowing reviews in The Telegraph. This was the icing on the cake, especially for Nick. Taking the silver award was The French Horn in Sonning, while the Bel & Dragon in Reading took bronze.
Best Independent Hotel
It was almost a triple-whammy on the night. We were announced runner up in the Best Independent Hotel category. Pipped to the post by The Great House, Sonning, we are honoured all the same and very touched for our 13 bedroom hotel to be recognised in such good company. Trunkwell House in Beech Hill took the bronze.
It was a great night for the team and it was so special to be able to share it with so many of them there on the night. Well done Team Miller, very well deserved, let’s crack on!
