The refurbished bar reflecting Mary’s personal idea that she has envisaged along the way to incorporate spaces for lounging, diners, drinkers and functions. Mary’s ideal was that the bar would be cosy and comfortable, whilst inviting and friendly.
The wine list and beer choices have been selected using reputable, local and long standing suppliers, with whom Mary has built relationships with over the years. The wine list displays a range of wines that are price conscious whilst still offering great quality and where individual wines offer a success story, show support to a community or are singular in some way.
The team take great pride in the list and have regular training sessions to taste and learn about the wine, so feel free to ask questions, and if they don’t know the answer they’ll get back to you ASAP! Since starting at The Miller in 2014, Mary and 3 other team members have all taken and passed WSET Level 1 or 2. Mary is keen to continue with their development and encourages anyone to put them to the test in assisting with wine choices.
Mary wants to continue to develop the range that they offer and has just introduced Freedom lager-a hand-crafted British lager from Staffordshire (approved by the team but mostly by Chef Nick). Mary felt the bar stock never suited their ethos and so has recently looked into their offering with Bar Supervisor Matt Wibberley. Together, they changed the range on offer and implemented new beers that better suited them.
